A large turnout – well in excess of 660 – attended the awards banquet, which caps the search to recognize outstanding companies that are helping Tampa Bay gain an identity as a homebase for technology businesses.

Annual Fast 50 competitions, sponsored by the Big Five accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP, are held in the United States, England, and Canada. This year Market Technologies ranked 25th in the Tampa Bay competition. Other companies among the 2000 Tampa Bay Technology Fast 50 winners include: Intermedia Communications, Jabil Circuit, Inc., Sykes Enterprises, Inc., and Tech Data Corp.

The Tampa Bay Technology Fast 50 is a ranking of the region's 50 fastest growing technology companies, both public and private, out of more than 3,000 technology-related firms in the region, based on percentage growth in revenue over a five-year period. The Tampa Bay region comprises seven counties, including the metropolitan cities of Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Florida. Collectively, the 2000 Fast 50 winners represent $17 billion in revenues and an average growth rate of 596 percent.
